Brief Statement of Faith

GOD

1. There is one God: the God of the Bible, the God of Abraham, the God of Jesus. (Exodus 20:3)

2. God has existed eternally in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)

CHRIST

3. Jesus is God, Son of God, Savior and Lord. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, atoning death on the cross, bodily resurrection, ascension to heaven, and promised return.

SALVATION

4. Salvation is possible only through Jesus Christ. (Acts 4:12, John 14:6)

5. Salvation is made possible through Christ’s atoning, substitutionary death on the cross. (Rom 3:25)

6. Salvation is attained through God’s grace and not through human efforts. (Eph 2:8,9; Rom 11:8)

FAITH

7. People should respond to God’s grace and Christ’s life, death, and resurrection by having faith in Christ. (Gal 2:16)

8. Faith in Christ should lead a person to:

  • proclaim Jesus as Savior and Lord. (Rom 10:9)

  • confess and repent of one’s sins. (Luke 18:13, Acts 2:38)

  • be baptized into Christ. (Acts 2:38)

  • and serve Christ as His disciple. (James 2:17)

BIBLE

9. The Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16)

10. The Bible is our authoritative standard for faith and practice, both for the individual believer and for the church. (2 Tim 3:16-17)

Regarding many doctrinal questions, we say: In essentials unity; in nonessentials liberty; in all things love. It is possible for Christians to remain united on the essential truths stated above, while disagreeing on a host of secondary doctrinal questions. Christians and churches should not allow secondary issues to divide us.
