New Church Formed in Costa Rica; Nine Baptized

We have received this report from Rodrigo Rojas, senior evangelist of Costa Rica For Christ, one of the ministry projects of Joshua One Ministries.  Rodrigo writes:

To Brother Terry, Friends and Partners in the extension of the gospel,

Grace and peace to those of generous hearts in Christ.

Thanks to God, the mission in Costa Rica is growing to a new level in all of the churches.  By God’s grace, in the month of June nine brothers of the new work in Patio de Agua were baptized this Sunday and took the Supper for the first time.

Last month we had a gathering with ten of the indigenous [Native American] pastors in San Miguel, to hear about the progress of their work in the mountain.  This Monday we had another gathering of pastors in San Miguel, and six attended.

From July 10 to 13, Leticia and Daniel [Rodrigo’s adult daughter and son, both of whom serve in ministry] conducted a Bible school for children called Adventures in Miniature, and it was a great success.  The first day 85 children attended, and the second day, 100 children, and the third day, 126.  On Sunday, I presented each child with a certificate.  Many parents of the children were in attendance, and several of them assisted with the Bible school.

We look forward to your team coming from the United States to help us add a second story to the kitchen at Iglesia del Evangelio [Church of the Gospel] in San Miguel.  The second story will be furnished as a dormitory, and the addition will serve many purposes:

* a place for our pastors from throughout Costa Rica to stay when they come to San Miguel to receive training at the Bible Institute, which I lead.

* a place for pastors and church leaders to stay when we have meetings of church leaders.

* a place for North Americans to stay during their visits to Costa Rica.

In short, the facility will have many uses.

The churches in Costa Rica greet you.  May the grace of the Lord be with all of you.

Love,

Missionary Rodrigo Rojas

Patio de Agua is a rural village less than an hour’s drive southeast of San Jose.  It is in the same general area as San Juan Sur and Santa Elena.  Members of our January 2008 evangelism trip will remember San Juan Sur, where we conducted a medical clinic.  It is certainly exciting to hear about the new church there, and about men accepting Christ and being baptized into Him.  Praise the Lord!
