Independent Christian Voice has gone “off the air” — on “indefinite hiatus.” Too bad. ICV is a blog written by evangelical Christians who addressed contemporary issues from a progressive point of view, rather than the usual right-wing hash most evangelical blogs spoon up. They obviously were meeting a demand for an alternative Christian point of view, drawing 50-100 readers a day.
Their reason relates to the discussion I brought up earlier today in “Is Successful Blogging a Team Sport?” Even with a team of three bloggers posting ICV content, they found that maintaining the blog was just too demanding of their time. No question, blogging requires a real commitment. Sometimes during this blog’s seven-month history, we have allowed several days to go by without posting something new. We have jobs, churches, and families to tend to. But I don’t think either Rod or I intend to go on “indefinite hiatus” anytime soon.
So long, at least for now, to “Scribe” and “Didaskalos” at ICV. Thankfully, some independent Christian voices remain in the blogosphere.
