Britain’s Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists complains that extremely premature babies cost too much to treat and have too many problems later. The doctors call such babies “bed blockers,” because they take up beds that could be used by healthier babies. Many British doctors think such babies should be left to fend for themselves without “active intervention” by doctors. That, apparently, is already the practice in the Netherlands.
